Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Dec 23, 2020
Almis H, Orhon FS, Bolu S, et al. - In this cross-sectional and case-control study, researchers sought to explore the level and severity of issues related to self-concept, depression, and anxiety in adolescents with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The research was carried out in the outpatient Pediatric Endocrinology Clinic of Adiyaman University School of Medicine in Turkey. The sample consisted of 153 patients with PCOS and 161 healthy adolescents. According to findings, PCOS adolescents had lower self-concept scores, higher levels of anxiety, and increased depressive symptoms than the healthy controls. In order to investigate the psychiatric issues in PCOS adolescents, future studies are required.
