Selection paradigms for large vessel occlusion acute ischemic stroke endovascular therapy

Cerebrovascular Diseases Oct 30, 2017

Bouslama M, et al. - Researchers conducted this study to assess the ability of different selection paradigms to predict favorable outcomes. In this study, Perfusion-Imaging Mismatch (PIM) appeared to disqualify more patients without improving outcomes for patients with National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) ≥10. Clinical-Core Mismatch (CCM) could lead to better selection, as it seemed to uniquely combine a relatively high rate of eligibility with optimal outcome discrimination across (+) and (-) patients. They recommended future prospective studies.
