Seizure and status epilepticus in chronic subdural hematoma

Acta Neurologica Scandinavica Jun 16, 2019

Won SY, et al. - Via a retrospective analysis of a cohort of a total of 375 patients, the researchers targetted to evaluate incidence, predictors of acute symptomatic seizure (ASz)/status epilepticus (SE), and its outcome. Independent predictors identified for ASz/SE were GCS ≤13 at admission, remote stroke, and recurrent hematoma in chronic subdural hematoma patients, which had an association with worse functional outcome, particularly in those who had SE. A routine pre- and postoperative EEG besides CT is recommended because of the higher rate of seizures than recurrence rate.
