Secured lumen-apposing fully covered metallic stents for stenoses in post-bariatric surgery patients
Obesity Surgery May 08, 2019
Simsek C, et al. - Researchers examined the feasibility and safety of performing endoscopic suture placement to lumen-apposing metallic stents (LAMS) for reducing the migration of the stent. Evaluation of nine consecutive patients with inability to tolerate a solid diet due to a benign gastrointestinal stricture recalcitrant to previous attempts at endoscopic therapy was done, identifying no stent migration in any patients. Suturing LAMS allowed for prolonged stent dwell times and was identified to be a feasible technique. However, a high level of expertise plus additional procedure time is requisite.
