Second line chemotherapy in biliary tract cancer: Outcome and prognostic factors
Liver International Feb 08, 2019
Schweitzer N, et al. - Since biliary tract cancer (BTC) prognosis is poor, researchers have examined the feasibility of a second line (2L) chemotherapy (CT) in order to determine the outcome and identify prognostic markers. Patients receiving CT from 2000 to 2015 with advanced BTC were involved. Patients receiving 2L CT had an OS of 16.67 and 9.9 months from the start of 1L and 2L CT. Findings suggested that 2L CT might be feasible in fit BTC patients despite relevant toxicity. Unfavorable prognostic markers were CEA elevation, leukocytosis and low cholinesterase levels.
