Seasonal variation of psoriasis and its impact in the therapeutic management: A retrospective study on Chinese patients
Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology May 13, 2021
Zheng X, Wang Q, Luo Y, et al. - Researchers performed this retrospective study to examine potentially related factors associated with the seasonal pattern of psoriasis and provide possible implications for alleviating psoriasis in clinical practice. This investigation was carried out in Chinese patients with psoriasis. Demographic and clinical data were gathered. Based on inclusion criteria, 2,270 patients (1,496 males and 774 females) with psoriasis were continually registered. Psoriatic patients who had occupation with more sunlight exposure were less likely to experience psoriasis flare-ups in the autumn/winter. Smoking and hyperlipidemia, on the other hand, were found to be positively associated with seasonal aggravation. A larger prospective study is required to determine the causality.
