Screening of hyperlipidemia among patients with rheumatoid arthritis in the United States
Arthritis Care & Research Nov 15, 2018
Navarro-Millán I, et al. – In this study, researchers studied the proportion of primary lipid screening among patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and compared it with patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) and patients with neither RA nor DM. They also assessed whether primary lipid screening varied according to the health-care provider (rheumatologist vs non-rheumatologist). Among patients with RA, primary lipid screening was suboptimal. Compared with the patients with DM, it was also lower and minimally different from the general population. Findings suggested higher screening for RA patients receiving care from both a rheumatologist and a non-rheumatologist (eg primary care physician).
