Screening for infection in unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and young people
Archives of Diseases in Childhood Mar 04, 2020
Williams B, Boullier M, Cricks Z, et al. - In this investigation involving 252 people [median age was 17 years (range 11–18)] from 19 countries, researchers assessed a screening programme for infection in unaccompanied asylum seeking children and young people against national guidance and reported the rates of identified infection in the cohort. Findings revealed that the majority of individuals were properly tested for infections with a high rate of identification of treatable asymptomatic infection. Infections have been of both individual and public health significance. The results of clinically significant levels of treatable infections in UASC illustrate the value of screening for all infections in this susceptible group of patients.
