Screening for infection before revision hip arthroplasty: A meta-analysis of likelihood ratios of erythrocyte sedimentation rate and serum C-reactive protein levels
Journal of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons | Dec 03, 2017
Huerfano E, et al. - This investigation was primarily designed to determine the aptness of erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and the serum C-reactive protein (CRP) level for ruling out infection prior to revision hip surgery. Findings revealed that for ruling out infection before revision hip arthroplasty, a negative test result for either the ESR or CRP level, with a low pretest probability of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI), was sufficient.
