School performance in children with infantile hydrocephalus: A nationwide cohort study
Clinical Epidemiology Dec 01, 2018
Schmidt LB, et al. - Researchers examined the school performance of infantile hydrocephalus (IHC) patients in comparison with other children in Denmark using detailed educational data. They conducted a population-based cohort study of all children born in Denmark (1977–2015) based on data from the Danish national health registers and the Danish educational register. The cohort consisted of 2,381,413 children, of whom 2,573 were IHC diagnosed. The poorer school performance of IHC children was reflected in particular by the greater proportion of children who did not obtain grades compared to other children. The performance of IHC children who receive grades was however comparable to that of other children.
