Saving bones without risking brain—bisphosphonates and risk of stroke: Matched case-control study
Osteoporosis International Jun 21, 2019
Asghar ZB, et al. - Analyzing routinely collected electronic data from patients registered at primary care practices in England participating in the Royal College of General Practitioners Research and Surveillance Centre, researchers examined if bisphosphonate treatment is correlated with the risk of stroke. They analyzed data from 31,414 cases comprising adults either living or dead—who were recorded as having had a stroke—and an equal number of matched controls. Following adjustment for a large number of clinical and demographic confounders, no correlation was noted between bisphosphonate treatment and risk of stroke.
