Sarcopenia is not associated with morbidity, mortality, or recurrence after esophagectomy for cancer

Siegal SR, et al. - In this work, the effect of sarcopenia on morbidity, mortality, and recurrence after resection for esophageal cancer was examined. Authors identified no association between sarcopenia and increased morbidity, mortality and disease-free survival in patients undergoing esophagectomy for cancer. In esophageal cancer, sarcopenia might not predict worse outcomes that have been reported in other solid tumors.
