Sarcopenia is associated with the neutrophil/lymphocyte and platelet/lymphocyte ratios in operable gastric cancer patients: A prospective study
Cancer Management and Research Nov 02, 2018
Lin J, et al. - In this prospective study of gastric cancer patients, researchers examined the relationship between sarcopenia and systemic inflammatory response (neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio [NLR], platelet/lymphocyte ratio [PLR], and large platelet/lymphocyte ratio [LPLR]) before radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer. Findings suggested that in 670 patients with operable gastric cancer, at-diagnosis sarcopenia was associated with inflammation. Due to the complicated assessment of muscle condition, PLR seemed to have utility as a primary screening test for sarcopenia.
