Digestive Diseases Jul 31, 2018
Pan X, et al. - For this investigation, researchers searched electronic databases until 30, September 2017 and reviewed literature extensively to examine the risk for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), particularly NAFLD-related significant fibrosis among subjects with sarcopenia. They found that patients with sarcopenia showed an increased risk for NAFLD compared to those without sarcopenia with heterogeneity among the individual studies. The findings from the present study suggested that sarcopenia served not only as a risk factor for the onset of NAFLD but also related to the progression of NAFLD-related significant fibrosis.
