SAPS III is superior to SOFA for predicting 28-day mortality in sepsis patients based on sepsis-3.0 criteria
International Journal of Infectious Diseases Nov 16, 2021
Zhu Y, Zhang R, Ye X, et al. - Researchers performed reevaluation of the predictive ability of six commonly used models for predicting 28-day mortality in patients based on the sepsis-3.0 criteria.
Using data from the fourth edition of the Medical Information Mart in Critical Care (MIMIC IV) database, a large-scale investigation was conducted including 12,691 patients.
Calculation and collection of the SIRS, SOFA, OASIS, LODS, SAPS II and SAPS III scores were done.
Relative to the survival group, the non-survival group had higher mean SIRS, SOFA, OASIS, SAPS II, LODS and SAPS III scores.
Among the models, the highest Youden index was generated by the SAPS III model.
Relative to SOFA, SAPS III performed superior in predicting 28-day mortality in sepsis-3.0 patients.
