Salivary levels of angiopoietin-2 in infants with infantile haemangiomas treated with and without systemic propranolol
Experimental Dermatology Apr 08, 2018
Seamens A, et al. - Researchers probed the saliva angiopoietin-2 (Ang2) levels in infants with infantile haemangiomas (IH) treated with and without systemic propranolol. Results demonstrated that the affected infants had detectable Ang2 in the saliva, but it did not decrease with propranolol treatment. Nonetheless, a positive correlation of Ang2 levels with size and changes in size was seen. Therefore, in the mechanism of propranolol resulting in IH reduction Ang2 was not the primary factor.
