Salivary levels of angiopoietin-2 in infants with infantile haemangiomas treated with and without systemic propranolol
Experimental Dermatology Apr 12, 2018
Seamens A, et al. - Experts probed the saliva angiopoietin-2 (Ang2) levels in infants with infantile haemangiomas (IHs) treated with and without systemic propranolol. In 45% of samples, Ang2 levels were detectable. They noted that in the saliva of affected infants, Ang2 was detectable but did not decrease with propranolol treatment. Nonetheless, a positive correlation of Ang2 levels with size and changes in size was seen. Therefore, in the mechanism of propranolol, Ang2 was not the primary factor resulting in IH reduction.
