Safety of monitored anesthesia care using propofol-based sedation for pleuroscopy

Respiration Sep 22, 2017

Vakil E, et al. - Safety, as well as efficacy of monitored anesthesia care for pleuroscopy, was assessed in this current study. Findings demonstrated the safety and efficacy of pleuroscopy using propofol with end-tidal capnography monitoring, with or without bispectral index (BIS) monitoring. In comparison to propofol alone, propofol plus narcotics or propofol plus sedatives, the combination of propofol with narcotics and sedatives was found to be related to more hypoxia and lower mean oxygen saturation.
