Safety of antiepileptic drugs in children and young people: A prospective cohort study

Egunsola O, et al. - The incidence of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) in children receiving antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) was determiined. ADRs were also compared to the individual drugs when given as monotherapy. In this study, antiepileptic drug most commonly observed was levetiracetam. Compared to sodium valproate, levetiracetam and carbamazepine were better tolerated. Monotherapy was shown to be the most common treatment regimen.
