Anuwong A, et al. - Researchers performed a comparison of the safety and outcomes of the transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach (TOETVA) with those of open thyroidectomy (OT). In this work, the TOETVA was performed as safely as OT. In addition, it required only conventional laparoscopic instruments, and avoided incisional scars. This suggested that for select patients this approach could be considered.
