Safety and efficacy of sphenopalatine artery ligation in recalcitrant pediatric epistaxis
International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology May 17, 2019
D'Oto A, et al. - Researchers retrospectively analyzed outcomes in pediatric patients who underwent sphenopalatine artery ligation at a tertiary academic center in order to assess the procedure feasibility for treating recalcitrant epistaxis in children. They identified no postoperative complications and resolution of significant epistaxis in all patients. Outcomes support it as a safe and effective treatment option in the pediatric population to control persistent posterior bleeds. However, they recommend performing additional studies to further support these findings.
