Safety and efficacy of anterior vertebral body tethering in the treatment of idiopathic scoliosis: A multicentre review of 57 consecutive patients
The Bone & Joint Journal Dec 03, 2020
Miyanji F, Pawelek J, Nasto LA, et al. - In this study, the clinical efficacy of anterior vertebral body tethering (AVBT) was determined in skeletally immature patients with idiopathic scoliosis. Researchers recruited a total of 57 patients in the study. When applied in skeletally immature individuals with idiopathic scoliosis, AVBT is correlated with satisfactory correction of deformity and an acceptable complication rate. The findings demonstrated that in these patients, improved patient selection and better implant technology may improve the 15.8% rate of revision surgery. In addition, future scrutiny of the true efficacy and long-term risks of this technique remains critical.
