Safety and efficacy of a trans-eyelid facial rejuvenation surgery combining partial repositioning of orbital fat and midface lift in Chinese patients: A prospective case series
Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology Jun 01, 2019
Liu Y, et al. - In this single-center study involving 179 patients (mean age was 47.17 years) who had facial rejuvenation, researchers characterized the combined technique of midface lift and partial release of orbital fat for facial rejuvenation and assessed the safety and aesthetic outcomes. Investigators found that the shapes of all patients' cheeks and eyelid joints improved, along with shallowing of the sunken eyepit and nasolabial sulcus at 6- and 18-month follow-up. Minor trauma without facial scarring, lower eyelid flinch and dislocation were involved in the surgical procedure. The data presented in this work showed a successful treatment option for facial rejuvenation without major complications is the combination of partial orbital fat repositioning and midface lifting via sub-ciliary approach. None of the study participants reported nerve injury complications, long-term chemosis conjunctiva, periocular swelling, or lower eyelid dislocation.
