Safety and effectiveness of palliative drug treatment in the last days of life - A systematic literature review

Journal of Pain and Symptom Management Aug 18, 2017

Jansen K, et al. – This systematic review aims to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of palliative drug treatment in the last days of the life of adult patients, focusing on the management of pain, dyspnea, anxiety, restlessness, and death rattle. In dying patients, there is a lack of evidence concerning the effectiveness and safety of palliative drug treatment, and the reviewed evidence gives limited guidance for clinicians to help in a distinct and significant phase of life.
