Sacroiliac joint tuberculosis: Surgical management by posterior open-window focal debridement and joint fusion

Zhu G, et al. - Patients with severe sacroiliac joint tuberculosis (SJT) of 3 different types were retrospectively reviewed herein to determine their surgical management, clinical manifestations and features and to assess the efficiency and security of such surgical treatment. Based on the findings, it was concluded that posterior open-window focal debridement and joint fusion is an efficient and secure surgical method to treat severe SJT. Anterior abscess curettage was recommended as a supplement in cases where an abscess is identified in the front of the sacroiliac joint.
