Nonetheless, taking radiographs routinely during the follow-up period for ankle fractures is a common practice, but the treatment strategy is seldom altered by routine radiographs. They suggested weighing this limited clinical relevance against the health care costs and radiation exposure associated with the use of routine radiographs.
