Routine clinical use of liraglutide 3 mg for the treatment of obesity: Outcomes in non-surgical and bariatric surgery patients
Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism Mar 21, 2019
Suliman M, et al. - In the present study, researchers tested the safety and effectiveness of routine clinical use of liraglutide 3 mg for the treatment of obesity. They collected data on the use of liraglutide 3 mg in obese Arab patients prospectively in this investigation. As part of routine care, 2,092 patients (median age 38 years; 77% women) received liraglutide 3 mg. No difference was found in percentage weight loss between post-bariatric surgery and non-surgical patients. Overall, the investigators concluded that liraglutide 3 mg was well tolerated and could produce weight loss comparable to that of randomized controlled trials in routine clinical care.
