Rotavirus vaccination and type 1 diabetes risk among US children with commercial insurance
JAMA Jan 29, 2020
Burke RM, Tate JE, Dahl RM, et al. - In this study, type 1 diabetes (T1D) risk was compared by rotavirus vaccination status among US children with commercial insurance. T1D can be precipitated by rotavirus. Therefore, rotavirus vaccination may be linked with T1D. In Australian children, the incidence of T1D younger than 5 years declined after the rotavirus vaccine introduction. However, two Finnish studies revealed no relationship of rotavirus vaccination with T1D risk in children 10 years and younger. However, statistical power in these studies was insufficient.
