Role of surgical approach on lymph node dissection yield and survival in patients with upper tract urothelial carcinoma
Urologic Oncology: Seminars and Original Investigations Oct 27, 2017
Lenis AT, et al. - The goal of this paper was to discern the effects of surgical approach on lymph node (LN) yield, the performance of lymph node dissection (LND), and overall survival (OS), in the case of upper tract urothelial carcinoma. In contrast to an ONU, robotic nephroureterectomy (RNU) did not compromise the performance of LND and could be related to improved LN yield. A link was brought to light between LNU with the lowest rates of LND and LN yield. Increasing LN yield correlated with improved OS in patients with pN0 disease. Irrespective of the differential rates of LND and LN yield, the surgical approach did not exert an independent impact on the OS.
