Behairy OG, et al. - A research aimed at estimating serum levels of cystatin-C and β-2 microglobulin in children with beta-thalassemia major (β-TM). In addition, their significance as early markers of glomerular and tubular dysfunctions, was examined. For monitoring glomerular and tubular dysfunction in children with β-TM, cystatin-C and β-2 microglobulin were specific and sensitive early biomarkers.
