Role of prophylactic hemoclip placement in prevention of delayed post-polypectomy bleeding for large colon polyps: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
Annals of Gastroenterology May 12, 2021
Gangwani MK, Ahuja P, Aziz A, et al. - In the present study, the researchers sought to analyze the currently available data and assess the effectiveness of hemoclip placement as a prophylactic measure to prevent delayed post-polypectomy bleeding (DPPB) for large colon polyps ≥ 10 mm. Based on the previously defined search strategy, a total of 261 studies were identified. The use of hemoclips to achieve hemostasis for large polyps seems to be beneficial in preventing DPPB. This validates the use of hemoclips in polypectomy procedures as standard clinical practice.
