Role of MRI-targeted biopsy in detection of prostate cancer harboring adverse pathological features of intraductal carcinoma and invasive cribriform carcinoma
The Journal of Urology Feb 09, 2018
Prendeville S, et al. - A comparison was performed between the detection of intraductal carcinoma (IDC) and cribriform pattern invasive carcinoma (CR) prostate carcinoma (PCa) in multiparamateric MRI (mpMRI) positive and negative regions of the prostate during this study. When compared to systematic sextant biopsy of MRI negative regions (SMN-Bx) sampling of mpMRI negative regions, mpMRI/US fusion biopsy (MRI-TBx) was correlated with prominently increased detection of IDC/CR positive PCa. Hence, findings supported the role of MRI to enhance the detection of clinically aggressive IDC/CR positive PCa.
