Role of full-spectrum endoscopy in colorectal cancer screening: Randomized trial
Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology Feb 15, 2019
Núñez-Rodríguez H, et al. - In the detection of colorectal neoplasms, researchers compared a new, full-spectrum endoscope to standard forward-viewing colonoscopy. The study sample consisted of 249 patients who received a positive fecal occult blood test (FOBT) from the colorectal screening program. The results obtained from the prospective, randomized study indicate that full-spectrum endoscopy did not detect significantly more colorectal neoplasia than forward viewing colonoscopy in a medium-risk colorectal cancer screening population with positive FOBT.
