Role of diffusion weighted-MRI in the diagnosis of bladder pain syndrome/interstitial cystitis
Urology Apr 14, 2020
Daniele P, Cesare R, Bright OH, et al. - Researchers tried to find out if DW-MRI can contribute to non-invasive diagnosis of bladder pain syndrome/interstitial cystitis (BPS/IC). They further investigated the agreement between two raters (two radiologists involved in the study), the relevance of the "operator-dependent" factor defined. Researchers included a total of 22 female patients with a diagnosis of BPS-IC to conduct DW-MRI. They carried out same evaluation in 20 patients with pelvic gynecological diseases and no BPS-IC. Via serving beneficial information on the choice of which patients may be more appropriately submitted to cystoscopy and bladder biopsy, DW-MRI supports to obtain a non invasive diagnosis of BPS/IC.
