Role of capsule endoscopy and fecal biomarkers in small-bowel Crohn's disease to assess remission and predict relapse
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Sep 28, 2017
Aggarwal V, et al. - Researchers planned this study to describe capsule endoscopy (CE) findings in small-bowel CrohnÂs disease (CD) patients in clinical remission compared with fecal biomarkers and standard clinical tools to determine mucosal remission and predict relapses. Evaluated by CE and fecal biomarkers, many had ongoing mucosal inflammation in small-bowel CD patients in clinical remission. During medium-term follow-up, only a minority developed a clinical flare. These findings suggested that in monitoring small-bowel CD progress, CE and fecal biomarkers were useful.
