Messbarger N, et al. - Researchers here sought to determine the role of anaerobic blood cultures in neonatal bacteremia. Despite a rare incidence of anaerobic bacteremia in neonates, anaerobic culture remained significant in this population, given the increased yield of both aerobic and facultative anaerobic organisms isolated from anaerobic blood culture bottles.
