Robotic assisted transaxillary thymectomy: Novel approach to thymic surgery

Reily RE, et al. - In this case report, researchers presented a 14-year-old girl who was referred to the clinic with dysphagia and left-sided thymic mass. They reported the procedure was well tolerated and without any complication. Anovel approach to thymic surgery was presented that does not need a neck incision, sternotomy, or entry into the pleural space. This minimally invasive approach could have several advantages, but issues related to exposure and adequacy of resection need further study before recommending this technique for myasthenia or malignancy.
