Robot-assisted extravesical ureteral reimplantation (REVUR) for unilateral vesico-ureteral reflux in children: Results of a multicentric international survey
World Journal of Urology Dec 22, 2017
Esposito C, et al. - Researchers coveted an illustration of the outcome of robot-assisted extravesical ureteral reimplantation (REVUR) in patients with unilateral vesico-ureteral reflux (VUR). They concluded that REVUR was a safe and effective technique for the treatment of primary unilateral VUR, with the procedure being easy and fast to perform. The easy utility of this procedure was attributed to the 6° of freedom of robotic arms. The learning curve was discovered to be short and it was useful to begin the robotics experience with a surgeon expert in robotic surgery as proctor on the 2nd robot console. The main challenges of robotics applications were found to be the high cost and the diameter of instruments, in pediatric urology.
