Rituximab-associated vasculitis flare: Incidence, predictors, and outcome
The Journal of Rheumatology Jun 05, 2020
Desbois AC, Biard L, Sene D, et al. - This study was intended to describe the incidence, predictors, and outcome of rituximab (RTX)-associated autoimmune disease flare. A retrospective study was performed in a tertiary referral center from 2005 to 2015. Researchers characterized disease flare as the onset of a new organ involvement or worsening of autoimmune disease within 4 weeks following RTX. A total of 185 patients were included in the study. The data showed that RTX-associated cryoglobulinemia vasculitis flare is correlated with high mortality rate. The data revealed that kidney lesions are due to immune complex deposition and to glomerular obstruction by cryoglobulinemia and RTX.
