Risks for upper respiratory infections in infants during their first months in day care included environmental and child-related factors

Laursen RP, et al. - The frequency and potential risk factors for respiratory infections, diarrhoea and absences in infants during their first months in day care were investigated in this prospective cohort study. Participants in the study were 269 Danish infants aged eight months to 14 months. Researchers did not find significant risk factors for lower respiratory tract infections (LRTIs) and diarrhoea. The findings demonstrated that infection risks were correlated with environmental factors and factors related to the child.
