Risk of venous thromboembolism following influenza vaccination in adults aged 50years and older in the Vaccine Safety Datalink

Vickers ER, et al. – Venous thromboembolism (VTE) risk after vaccination in adults 50 years old and older within the Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD) was inspected. No association was observed between inactivated influenza vaccine and VTE in adults ≥50 years old. A post hoc analysis unveiled an increased risk among current smokers. Supporting the safety of annual vaccination in this population, these findings were consistent with previous research.
