Omland SH, et al. - Researchers aimed to determine the risk of skin cancer in HIV-infected patients and compare it with the risk in the background population.An increased risk of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) was seen in the HIV-infected patients. They noted the low nadir, but not current, CD4 cell count as a marker of immunosuppression to be related to an increased risk of SCC.
