Risk of singleton preterm birth after prior twin preterm birth: A systematic review and meta-analysis
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology Aug 03, 2020
Menzies R, Li ALK, Melamed N, et al. - Via performing a systematic review and meta-analyses, researchers investigated the risk of preterm birth in singleton pregnancies after a preterm twin birth. Searching Embase, Ovid Medline, and Cochrane from inception until February 28, 2019, they identified 8 cohort studies at low risk-of-bias meeting the inclusion criteria for the systematic review and 6 for the meta-analysis. Findings revealed increased odds of preterm singleton birth in subsequent pregnancy among women who had previous preterm (< 37 weeks gestation) twin births vs those with previous term twin births. The odds increase with reducing gestational age of prior twin birth.
