Risk of pulmonary embolism in patients with end-stage renal disease receiving long-term dialysis

Wang IK, et al. – The pulmonary embolism (PE) risks were compared between Asian dialysis patients and a comparison cohort without clinical kidney disease. In comparison to those without clinical kidney disease, dialysis patients were at a nearly 2–fold increased hazard of developing PE and were at greater risk of fatality from PE. In hemodialysis (HD) patients, the risk of PE was higher than in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients.
