Risk of otitis media with effusion (OME) in children by Pseudomonas aeruginosa
International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology Jun 22, 2019
Emami A, et al. - Forty-two middle ear fluid samples with confirmed otitis media with effusion (OME) by an ears, nose, and throat specialist collected from pediatrics were investigated by the researchers evaluated Pseudomonas aeruginosa to determine different OME reason in pediatrics, besides introduced probable bacterial and viral causal agents. The most prevalent infections ascertained from the total results of culture and molecular methods were Pseudomonas aeruginosa and streptococcus pneumonia. Also, the only detected virus was influenza type A. Hence, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, chiefly identified in patients who were referred from the tropical and humid region, was the most prevalent agent for OME. Therefore, it was highly suggested to discover the pattern of OME infection in each area separately for more successful treatment.
