Osteoporosis International Jun 21, 2018

Szafors P, et al. - Experts evaluated the risk of fracture and presence of low BMD in patients with IBDs compared to healthy controls. As per data, an increased risk of fractures, especially in the spine, and significant decreased BMD at all sites, was seen in the patients with IBDs, this indicated that there was a need for identifying high-risk individuals among this population. Findings suggested that compared to the controls a significant decrease in mean BMD and Z-scores for IBD patients was seen at all sites.
