Choi HY, et al. - A population-based cohort study is performed to assess the risk of diabetes in viral hepatitis B or C patients compared to that in non-infected individuals. Findings suggested that both hepatitis C virus (HCV) and hepatitis B virus infections are associated with the development of diabetes. Therefore, researchers suggest prevention of, screening for, and treatment of both for reducing the risk of diabetes in these patients.
