Risk of cardiovascular events in statin-treated patients with type 2 diabetes and metabolic dyslipidemia without prevalent atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease
American Journal of Medicine Jul 26, 2019
Rana JS, et al. - In statin-treated adults aged 21–90 years with type 2 diabetes and metabolic dyslipidemia (elevated triglycerides ≥150 mg/dl and low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol <50 mg/dl for women, <40 mg/dl for men) but without established atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, researchers examined the risk of incident atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease events in relation to attained low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels in these patients. The selection criteria were satisfied by 19,095 subjects. Monotonically lower risk of incident atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease events was observed in relation to lower achieved LDL-C levels among the participants.
