Risk of cancer recurrence among individuals exposed to antitumor necrosis factor therapy: A systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies
Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology Dec 21, 2018
Micic D, et al. - Researchers carried out a systematic review and a meta-analysis of observational studies including patients with cancer history exposed to anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF) therapy to evaluate the risk of new cancer or recurrence of cancer. Through September 1, 2015, a computerized literature search of MEDLINE, Google scholar, and Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews was performed. The risk of new cancer or cancer recurrence in patients with cancer history and anti-TNF therapy is comparable to the risk of nonbiological disease modifying therapies. Despite prior diagnosis of cancer, the use of anti-TNF medications in select populations was supported.
