Risk of cancer recurrence among individuals exposed to antitumor necrosis factor therapy: A systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies
Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology Jan 08, 2019
Micic D, et al. - Researchers conducted this systematic review and a meta-analysis of observational studies that reported on patients with a history of cancer exposed to anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF) therapy to assess the risk of new cancer or cancer recurrence. Upon analysis of nine English-language observational studies, they found no significant difference in the pooled incidence rate ratio of new or recurrent cancer among individuals with a history of cancer exposed to anti-TNF therapy vs control therapies. The use of anti-TNF medications was, thus, supported in select populations despite prior cancer diagnosis.
